Class IV Laser Therapy
A non-invasive, pain-free treatment that accelerates healing and reduces inflammation at the cellular level.

Accelerate healing. Reduce pain. Recover faster.
Class IV Laser Therapy uses high-powered light energy to stimulate your body’s natural healing processes. The laser penetrates deep into muscles, tendons, and ligaments, increasing cellular energy (ATP production), improving circulation, and reducing inflammation at the tissue level.
This boosts your body’s ability to repair damaged tissue, making it one of the most effective tools for speeding up recovery from soft tissue injuries.
Why it improves healing time:
- Increases cellular repair and regeneration
- Reduces inflammation and swelling
- Enhances blood flow and oxygen delivery
- Decreases pain, allowing better movement and rehab
- Supports faster recovery from acute and chronic injuries
Class IV laser helps you heal quicker, stronger, and more completely — so you can get back to moving and performing without lingering pain.
FASTER HEALING FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE
Deep Tissue Laser Therapy
Scientifically proven to reduce pain and inflammation. Laser Therapy generates photochemical response in damaged tissue by a process called photobiomodulation. This process stimulates healing by increasing the microcirculation and oxygen delivery to the injured cells.
Treatments are Safe, Painless, and Fast. Laser Therapy allows for deep tissue penetration with a non invasive method.
Proven to help with:
-
- Sports Injuries
- Strains and Sprains
- Chronic Pains of Arthritis
- Headaches
- Plantar Fasciitis and Much More.

What Is Class 4 Laser Therapy?
Class 4 laser therapy, also called photobiomodulation or high-power laser therapy, uses focused therapeutic light to stimulate healing deep within injured tissue. It is one of the most effective non-invasive tools available for reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and accelerating recovery from both acute and chronic injuries.
At Function Performance Sport Chiropractic in Oregon City, Class 4 laser is one part of a fully integrated treatment plan. We use it alongside manual therapy and progressive rehab to help you recover faster and more completely than passive care alone.
How It Works
Therapeutic laser light is absorbed by structures inside your cells, particularly the mitochondria. This absorption triggers a cascade of beneficial responses in the treated tissue:
-
- Increased cellular energy production (ATP)
-
- Improved circulation and oxygen delivery
-
- Reduced inflammation at the cellular level
-
- Accelerated collagen synthesis and tissue repair
-
- Reset of pain pathways in chronic conditions
The result is faster healing, less pain, and better tissue quality than you get from rest or medication alone.
Why Class 4, Specifically
Not all laser therapy is the same. Cold laser and low-level laser devices deliver a fraction of the power and can only treat surface-level tissue. Class 4 laser operates at significantly higher power output, which allows the therapeutic light to penetrate several centimeters below the skin.
That depth is critical. It means we can reach deeper structures like the rotator cuff, hip flexors, psoas, IT band, and deep spinal muscles with real therapeutic effect. For injuries involving deeper tissue, Class 4 is substantially more effective than lower-power alternatives.
Why it matters
When your body is injured or inflamed, the natural healing process kicks in—but sometimes, it needs a little extra help. That’s where laser therapy comes in. By delivering specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light directly into the tissue, this treatment stimulates the mitochondria (the “energy centers” of your cells) to produce more ATP—your body’s cellular fuel.
More ATP means faster regeneration, improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and accelerated healing.
At Function Performance, we use laser therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or looking to get back to activity faster, laser therapy offers a safe, effective, and non-invasive solution that can help your body heal more efficiently.
Conditions That Respond Well
Class 4 laser is especially useful for acute injuries, flare-ups of chronic conditions, and injuries with deep-tissue involvement. We use it for:
-
- Acute ligament sprains, including ankle and wrist
-
- Muscle strains and contusions
-
- Rotator cuff tendonitis and shoulder impingement
-
- Disc-related low back and neck pain
-
- Knee pain, including meniscus irritation and arthritic flare-ups
-
- Chronic hip pain and gluteal tendinopathy
-
- Post-surgical healing support
What to Expect
A typical laser session takes five to fifteen minutes depending on the area being treated. You will feel only a mild, pleasant warmth over the treatment site. There is no discomfort, no needles, and no downtime. Most patients return to their normal day or training immediately after.
Results build over the course of a treatment plan. Many people feel meaningful relief within the first two or three sessions, with continued improvement as tissue remodels.

Common Questions About Class 4 Laser Therapy
Not at all. Most people feel a soothing warmth while the laser therapy is being performed.
This depends on your condition and goals. Acute injuries may respond quickly, while chronic conditions may require a series of sessions. Laser therapy typically works best as a cumulative effect of the course of 5-10 treatment sessions. Discounted package plans are offered and recommended.
Laser therapy is extremely safe when performed by trained providers. Side effects are rare and typically limited to mild temporary redness.
Laser Therapy can be used as a stand alone treatment. We find patients respond best when Laser therapy is combined with hands on manual therapy, Chiropractic adjustments, Rehab, and/ or shockwave therapy for best results.
Many people feel relief within 1–3 sessions, with improvements continuing to build over time.
