Ben Hokenson DC, DACBSP
Chiropractor
Dr. Ben spent a few years after his undergraduate degree, as an EMT on a professional ski patrol, a river and sea kayak guide, and a carpenter before earning his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the University of Western States in 2008. His background isn’t just a fun fact — it means he’s developed a wide variety of skillsets, pushed his body hard, and knows firsthand what it’s like to need to get back to the things that matter.
Today, Dr. Ben holds the most advanced sports medicine credential available to chiropractors: a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP®). Earning it required three years of post-doctoral training, hundreds of clinical hours, and rigorous written and practical exams. HIs post doctorate training continues to be well beyond state requirements every year, with certifications in a wide variety of some of the best evidence-based approaches to manual therapy, soft tissue treatment, and strength and mobility work.
Whether you’re dealing with a stubborn shoulder, a nagging knee, post-surgical recovery, or anything keeping you from living at full capacity, Dr. Ben brings a precise diagnostic eye and a wide toolkit to keep you moving and performing strong — not just managing the symptoms. He’ll go the extra mile to understand your goals and push hard alongside you to help you reach them. But this works best as a partnership — he brings the expertise, the tools, and the commitment, and you bring the effort and the willingness to do the work between visits. If you’re ready to invest in yourself, he’s all in.
You don’t have to be an elite athlete to work with him. You just have to be motivated to be better.
Outside the clinic, he’s still out there — adventuring with his family and staying connected to the outdoor life that shaped him.

Common Questions about Function Performance
Within the Chiropractic profession there are many different techniques and approaches to treatment. The primary approach of Chiropractic is some form of spinal adjusting or manipulation to free up joint mobility and creating better joint alignment. At Function Performance we combine hands on manual therapy to treat the soft tissue structures, incorporate strength and mobility rehabilitation exercises for your particular condition, and adjust needed areas to patient needs and comfort levels.. We also take a look at your movement patterns, often finding many faulty patterns that lead to injury. By addressing and re-training movement patterns, incorporating specific adjusting, addressing the soft tissue component you get a more comprehensive approach to your care, delivering faster longer lasting results. We work hard to be on the forefront of evidence informed approaches and treatment modalities for comprehensive treatment plans. Take a look at our reviews and see what people are saying.
Adjustments or manipulations can be a powerful tool in your treatment. However we understand some conditions and some situations where adjusting is not the tool we want to use. If a patient would prefer not to be adjusted we respect this and have other treatment methods to offer to provide results. All treatment provided is under the consent and comfort level of the patient without surprises.
We are in network with a variety of insurance groups. Our staff will verify your benefits and coverage prior to your first appointment when given all the needed information. Not all insurance covers all our advanced treatment options but those willing to invest in themselves for high level treatment will find it very worthwhile. We will carefully review what will be covered as well as what your cost will be based on your condition and treatment needs and goals.
