  • Massage Therapy

Massage therapy dates back thousands of years ago. Ancient writings from China, Japan, India and Egypt reference massage. In general, massage therapists work on muscles and soft tissue to help you feel better. Massage therapists treat clients by using touch to manipulate the muscles and other soft tissues of the body. With their touch, therapists relieve pain, help heal injuries, improve circulation, relieve stress, increase relaxation, and aid in the general wellness of clients. Massage therapists tend to combine with chiropractors to help patients get the best care by treating muscles and soft tissue.

There are several types of massage. In Swedish massage the therapist uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping. Sports massage combines techniques of Swedish massage and deep tissue massage to release chronic muscle tension. It is adapted to the needs to the athlete. Myofascial trigger point therapy focuses on trigger points. Trigger points are areas on your body that are painful when pressed but associated with pain elsewhere in the body. Massage therapy is sometimes done using essential oils as a form of aromatherapy.

While there are several types of massage, there are two fundamental categories. The first is known as rehabilitative massage. Rehabilitative massage utilizes deep tissue work, medical, therapeutic or clinical massage. This type of massage is practiced in many settings like chiropractic offices, clinics and hospitals. The second is known as relaxation massage or Swedish massage. This type is oftentimes practiced in settings like spas, wellness centers and resorts. The type of massage given usually depends on your needs and physical condition.

Our in-house massage therapist will work alongside our Chiropractic team to get you the benefits of working together on musculoskeletal issues. This will help not only shorten treatment time but also have longer-lasting effects. Our chiropractic team will focus more on musculoskeletal issues, and massage therapists will assist with soft tissue and muscle issues.

  • Functional movement assessment

At Function Performance, we believe movement is medicine. When you move better, you feel better—and recover faster. That’s why this assessment is often the first step in any custom care plan, whether your goal is to relieve pain, build strength, or avoid future injury.

During your assessment, our providers will guide you through specific movement patterns while observing how your muscles, joints, and nervous system interact. We’re looking for asymmetries, compensations, or mobility restrictions that could be affecting your performance or daily comfort. These insights are then used to build a targeted rehab or performance strategy.

This approach is valuable not only for people currently in pain, but also for:

    • Athletes looking to optimize form and prevent injury
    • Office workers experiencing neck, shoulder, or back pain
    • Active individuals returning to exercise after a long break
    • Anyone with a history of repetitive strain or chronic tightness

Functional Movement Assessments also bridge the gap between chiropractic care, massage therapy, and corrective exercises. When your whole care team understands how you move, they can work together to help you move—and feel—your best.

Unlike quick assessments or generic fitness screens, our approach is evidence-informed, hands-on, and completely tailored to your goals. Whether you’re trying to get back into shape, stay pain-free at work, or perform at a higher level in your sport, understanding your movement is the key to unlocking better results.

  • Corrective exercises and stretches

    Corrective exercises and stretches

At Function Performance, we don’t believe in generic “one-size-fits-all” rehab programs. Instead, we evaluate your movement and build a personalized corrective plan that works with your body, not against it.

For example, if your knee hurts, the problem may actually be in your hip, ankle, or core. By identifying weak or overactive muscles, we can create a movement sequence that retrains your body to move the right way—restoring stability, strength, and coordination where it’s needed most.

Corrective stretches help reduce tension and lengthen muscles that are overworking or compensating, while strengthening exercises bring attention to areas that are underperforming or inactive. It’s a powerful combination that promotes long-term, sustainable change.

These sessions are guided and instructional—we don’t just show you what to do; we make sure you’re doing it correctly. Our goal is to empower you with the tools, body awareness, and confidence to take control of your recovery and performance, both in the clinic and at home.

Corrective exercises and stretches are useful for everyone—from athletes and gym-goers to office workers and active parents. Whether you’re trying to fix pain that won’t go away, improve how you move in your sport, or prevent future issues, this method helps you create a stronger foundation.

It’s not about “more exercise”—it’s about better movement.

  • Corrective exercises

    Rehabilitation

Athletes see us for preventative support, enhanced performance and endurance, and to remedy pain and discomfort. Using rehabilitative therapies, our team can effectively maximize the body’s healing process and get it highly functioning.

Our team doesn’t just treat the site of pain. We look at how your body moves as a whole—because dysfunction in one area can create a chain reaction elsewhere. By addressing the root cause of pain and rebuilding healthy movement patterns, we help you recover more completely and avoid recurring injuries.

Rehab at Function Performance is more than just a series of exercises. It’s a collaborative process. You’ll work one-on-one with clinicians who understand your goals and can adjust your program in real time to support healing without risking reinjury.

We also go beyond just “fixing” the problem. Our programs are designed to build strength, stability, and resilience that lasts—so you’re not just recovering from injury, you’re moving forward with confidence.

Whether you’re recovering from a sports injury, surgery, or a lingering issue that hasn’t resolved elsewhere, our rehabilitation services are built to support progress every step of the way. You don’t need to be an athlete to benefit—you just need a body that wants to feel and move better.

    Kinesiotaping

The beauty of kinesiotape is its versatility. It can be applied across a variety of conditions and activity levels, whether you’re recovering from a sprained ankle, managing shoulder tension, or trying to improve posture after long hours at a desk. Athletes also use kinesiotaping to help stabilize joints and muscles under load without sacrificing speed, flexibility, or performance.

For some patients, kinesiotaping provides immediate relief. For others, it helps reinforce posture or technique between therapy visits. It’s waterproof, long-lasting, and effective for 3–5 days per application—meaning you can keep moving without worrying about reapplying or readjusting.

Most importantly, how the tape is applied matters. Our providers are trained to apply kinesiotape based on your specific movement patterns and symptoms. That means every application is intentional, strategic, and focused on your individual needs.

Whether you’re recovering from injury, struggling with pain, or just need extra support, kinesiotaping is a gentle, drug-free way to encourage healing and better movement—without slowing you down.

  • laser therapy

    Laser Therapy

Unlike other treatments that mask symptoms, laser therapy supports your body’s own healing processes. The effects are both immediate and cumulative—many clients feel relief after their first session, with improvements continuing to build over time. And because the treatment is painless, there’s no risk of irritation or downtime.

Laser therapy is also incredibly versatile. It can be used on small or large areas, with precise targeting for localized pain or broad application for generalized inflammation. It’s especially useful for hard-to-treat areas like joints, tendons, and deeper muscle tissues that aren’t always reached by manual therapies alone.

We often pair laser therapy with other services like chiropractic adjustments, corrective exercises, or rehab, making it a key part of our integrated care model. Whether you’re dealing with a nagging injury, recovering from surgery, or simply looking to reduce pain and inflammation without medication, laser therapy could be the missing piece in your recovery journey.

    Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

Scientifically proven to reduce pain and inflammation. Laser Therapy generates photochemical response in damaged tissue by a process called photobiomodulation. This process stimulates healing by increasing the microcirculation and oxygen delivery to the injured cells.

Treatments are Safe, Painless, and Fast. Laser Therapy allows for deep tissue penetration with a non invasive method.

    Proven to help with:

    1. Sports Injuries
    2. Strains and Sprains
    3. Chronic Pains of Arthritis
    4. Headaches
    5. Plantar Fasciitis and Much More.

  • Instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation

Instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation (IASTM)

Unlike general massage or manual therapy, IASTM provides a level of precision that’s ideal for targeting problem areas—especially in dense or stubborn tissue. It helps reduce pain, improve flexibility, and restore normal movement patterns by freeing up restricted tissue.

At Function Performance, we often incorporate IASTM into treatment plans for clients recovering from repetitive stress injuries (like tennis elbow or plantar fasciitis), surgery, trauma, or chronic muscle tightness. It’s also a powerful tool for athletes and active individuals looking to improve performance and stay injury-free.

The treatment is generally well tolerated, though you may experience mild redness or tenderness after a session—both signs that your body is starting to heal and restore function.

As always, we don’t use IASTM in isolation. It’s part of a broader, integrated approach that may include corrective exercise, chiropractic care, rehab, or massage—depending on your unique needs.

If you’re dealing with stubborn tightness, old injuries, or limitations that haven’t responded to other treatments, IASTM may be the missing link in your recovery.

  • Diversified Chiropractic Technique (DCT)

    Chiropractic Adjusting Techniques

At Function Performance, our approach to adjusting is highly individualized. We begin with a thorough movement and posture assessment, discuss your symptoms and goals, and tailor each adjustment to fit your body and comfort level. Our providers are skilled in delivering a range of adjusting techniques including Diversified technique, low force hands on mobilizations, and Instrument adjusting techniques for your spine and extremities. These techniques are inherently safe and effective, always explaining what they’re doing and why and with your consent. Chiropractic adjusting is just one of many tools we use to improve your condition when needed. Patient preference and consent is always top priority when considering where and when to adjust, alternative therapies are available.

Many patients experience reduced pain, improved posture, and increased flexibility after just a few sessions. But the real benefit of chiropractic care comes from consistency. Ongoing adjustments help maintain alignment and joint mobility, reduce inflammation, and support nervous system function—especially when paired with rehab, massage, or corrective exercise.

Whether you’re seeking relief from nagging back pain, recovering from an injury, or looking to maintain spinal health as part of your wellness routine, adjusting techniques can help you move better, feel better, and get back to doing what you love.

  • Manual therapy

    Active release technique (ART)

What makes ART different is its precision. It’s not a massage, and it’s not a general stretch. It’s a focused, hands-on technique that treats the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms. Clients often feel improvement in mobility, pain relief, or nerve function after just a few sessions.

ART is also incredibly versatile. We use it for athletes recovering from injury, professionals with desk-related posture issues, and anyone who feels like their body is “stuck” due to tightness or poor movement patterns.

Our team doesn’t use ART in isolation—we combine it with chiropractic care, corrective exercises, rehab, or laser therapy depending on what your body needs most. That’s the benefit of working with an integrated team: you get the right tools, in the right order, at the right time.

If you’re dealing with chronic stiffness, nerve irritation, or mobility restrictions, ART can be the key to unlocking long-term relief and better movement.
